This PHP script enables the access to a newsserver (by NNTP) from a webpage. It allows you to combine web-forums and newsgroups. The visitors of your website won't notice that your web-forum is in fact a newsgroup. NewsPortal is NOT supported any more. It might still work, or it might not work any more on recent versions of PHP.
